Mount St. Mary's Riding Club (MSMRC) and Intercollegiate Equestrian (MSMET) is a club sport that is partially funded by the University but primarily through club fund raising and individual student participation. The MSM Riding Club is an organization that is comprised of students, faculty, staff, parents and members of the local community who are interested in the social and educational activities of the local horse community. Members are involved in farm tours, trail rides, clinics, hunt balls and often come to cheer the MSMET at intercollegiate shows. Both club and team were started in l998 by several Mount students.

The MSMET competes in Region One, Zone Four of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. The MSM team competes with 15 colleges in Maryland and Virginia and travels to different schools for shows. Students do not bring horses to these shows, but ride those provided by the host college. Riders randomly select horses to ride and without practice go into the ring to compete. The goal of the intercollegiate competition is to allow riders of all levels (beginners to an open level of highly competitive riders) to enjoy competition as an individual and team member. Riders can advance to the Regionals, Zones and on to the Nationals.

The "home" of the MSM Riding Club and Team is Middle Creek Stables. The stable is located just a few minutes from campus. Janis Groomes, the team's coach,  is the owner Middle Creek Stables and gives lessons there.  Professor Elizabeth Holtry is the club/team's advisor and is a faculty member in the Visual & Performing Arts Department at the University.
