After years of research and growing interest, the Mount St. Mary's Riding Club and Intercollegiate Team was started in 1997, by students Julia Andersen (01) and Amanda Ditsky(01)along with Clarice Dionot (01), C.J. Sullivan (02), and Shannon Sherrock (01). The club is for interested students, faculty, staff, family and members of the local community, while the Intercollegiate Team is part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and is comprised of full time students. The Mount competes in Zone Four the most competitive in the country. Breezy Hill Farm was the first home to the team and club. Since 2004 the Mount Riding Club and Intercollegiate Team calls Middle Creek Stables home.
Monsignor Robert Kline, a former president of The Mount died in June of l999. A namesake, "Monsignor K", a large beautiful 12 year old racehorse was donated to the team in l999. Monsignor "K" was named after the former Mount president by one of his devoted students. He was donated to the equestrian program by well known Penn National trainer, Bruno Bellucci and his wife, Pat. Monsignor is currently being ridden and shown by Clarice Dionot.
