The Mount Saint Mary's dance team is a club sport at the University. The team is made up of a talented and enthusiastic members who perform at the men's and women's home basketball games. The members of the team come from each class, freshmen through seniors, with a wide variety of dance backgrounds and talents. The routines usually last two to three minutes long and the songs used are always different. Several styles of dance are used throughout the season, including jazz, hip-hop, pom, funk, and kick. Our season usually runs from late September through March. The dance team has three student captains who run practices and choreograph the dances. Try outs are held in the beginning of the school year. These try outs are three days long. They include learning a short dance and kick routine and showing turns, leaps, and other talents. The process allows for the captains to include new, talented members to the team. The team practices three to four days a week or as needed during the season. The dance team has great members who are friends both in and out of practice. |
